Many of us are searching for a purpose to life beyond the day-to-day routine of making a living, we believe our lives' must have a purpose and we live in the hope that some day we will find it - but . . . by living our lives' in this way we are creating a huge problem for ourselves and our children.
Instead of spending our time doing things that are truly important we make urgency, the need to do things 'on time' important, as a way of motivating ourselves and other people to get things done. The desire for financial gain and the fear of financial loss motivates us too.
But time spent on actions motivated purely by urgency or money leaves us feeling unfulfilled having spent our time doing something that serves no real Life Purpose.
Our time here on Earth is our most precious resource because:
We exchange the currency of our lives' for the currency of our time, so that we can have the money to buy security and happiness.
What we are longing to experience is not just security and happiness, it is the higher value of fulfillment. We have yet to realise that our level of fulfillment is determined by how we spend our time - not how we spend our money. Our belief that money, using it the way we do now, can buy us fulfillment is quite literally costing us the Earth.
Our scramble for security and happiness is creating the most insecure and unhappy outcome we could possibly imagine – the desecration of our planet; and no economy however strong, no society however secure, will ever be able to buy it back.
This is not to say that money is not important, the way we use money is vitally important as we shall see.
But what if . . .
